...SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING ACROSS THE
NORTHERN SIERRA AND WESTERN NEVADA...
Latest radar and detailed model trends show an upward trend for
showers and thunderstorms through this afternoon. Storms in the
Sierra will favor early afternoon, pushing off into the lower
deserts by mid to late afternoon and early evening.
Storms will generally move to the east or northeast around 15 to
20 mph. Stronger cells will be capable of small hail, brief heavy
downpours and gusty winds. The greatest outflow gust potential
will be in the lower elevations of western NV where gusts could
approach 40 to 45 mph this afternoon. Some localized areas of
blowing dust and reduced visibility could occur along Highway
95...I-80 and Highway 50 east of the Reno and Carson City area.
If you are on an area lake or doing anything outdoors, remain
alert to where storms are relative to where you are. Be prepared
to seek shelter.
